Universal vs Manufacturer Cartridges
I’ve used both, and for me the universal size was easier to live with long term. Manufacturer-specific filters can be fine, but you’re tied to one source, and that gets annoying if prices change or stock runs low. With 2.5x10 cartridges, you can usually find replacements more easily, but I’d still check the actual purpose of the cartridge, not just the size. I was looking at 0.5 micron filters recently because they work with standard housings and are meant for undersink use. I’d pay attention to certification too, especially NSF/ANSI 42, because compatibility alone doesn’t tell you much about performance.
